Born in Detroit Michigan
in 1955 I knew at an early age I would leave the mid west. I vagabonded
around the east checking out the art scene and going to music festivals
in New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Vermont. In the end my love
of wilderness adventure won out and I headed west to attend art school
at Montana State University in Bozeman where I majored in painting
and sculpture. A year after college I moved to Portland, Oregon where
I put my art talents to work as a free lance model maker and scenic
artist. I continued showing my paintings regularly at local and regional
galleries and traveled to Europe and Mexico to experience art and
culture. In 2002 I quit commercial art to pursue my fine art full
time. I now teach at he Oregon Society of Artists where I have served
on the board of directors since 2005. I have taken Grand and First
Prizes in local art competitions and have been featured in other
competitions including the Adirondack Exhibition of International
Watercolor in Old Forge N.Y and the Pittsburg Watercolor Society
National Watercolor Competition. I exhibit regularly and sell my
work to a wide variety of people.
My art is motivated by the transient beauty of
light and the acknowledgement that we are one with our selves, with
others and with the environment. In my art I try to instill the scenes
I paint with freshness and vitality, just as I strive for these qualities
in my life as well.
